As an Accountant I at Dow Credit Union , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial statements and reporting for our credit union. You will work closely with the Controller and CFO to uphold Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and adhere to federal and governing regulations. Your responsibilities will include preparing, examining, and analyzing financial data to compile comprehensive reports.

Accountant I Assist the Controller and CFO in maintaining compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. Prepare and reconcile key general ledger accounts, balance sheets, income statements, and other month-end reports. Conduct monthly investment analysis, including journal entries and reconciliations. Complete credit union reports for regulatory agencies such as NCUA, IRS, and CUNA. Assist auditors and regulators during year-end and internal audits. Balance tax forms and ensure accuracy with year-end financial data. Monitor and balance the general ledger accurately. Contribute to accounting projects and improvements in reporting processes. Accomplish additional duties as requested by management or other team members. Skills: Strong understanding of financial and accounting theory. Proficiency in GAAP and financial practices. Fundamental knowledge of the financial industry, including Federal Reserve System processes. Ability to gather, analyze, and compile moderately complex financial data. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel. Familiarity with credit union products, policies, and regulations. Excellent communication skills to explain accounting procedures to non-accounting staff. Experience with automated accounting systems and electronic delivery systems. Ability to manage stress, meet deadlines, and work independently. Clear and articulate verbal and written communication. Discretion in handling confidential information. TO EXCEL AS AN MEMBER SERVICES SPECIALIST Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree required. A combination of education beyond an associate's degree and relevant experience may be considered as a substitution. Years of Experience: Two years of financial statement preparation and month end close experience
