Full job description Introduction The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF), Division of Management Services (DMS), Bureau of Finance (BF), Fiscal Services Unit is currently recruiting to fill Two (2) – LTE Accountant positions in Madison, WI. Limited-Term Employment (LTE) with DCF offers a challenging and valuable work experience. Limited-term positions are not permanent civil service positions, and as such, these positions do not offer the full range of benefits of civil service employment. These opportunities can, however, provide insight to the variety of positions and opportunities for employment available with the DCF. LTE positions are limited to 1039 hours per year.

This position is headquartered at our 201 W. Washington Ave. Madison, WI office and will have the option to work hybrid for up to 80% depending on the employee's preference and needs of the work unit. This position may need to report to the office 1-2 days per week for special projects. This schedule may change based on training or operational needs. Any hybrid work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.
Employees need to report to the 201 W. Washington Ave. Madison, WI office on their first day for onboarding and orientation. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of hybrid work.

Position Summary This position will learn to perform transaction review activities necessary for processing payment requests in STAR, Wisconsin's PeopleSoft accounting system. The position will become familiar with governmental accounting, state appropriations, accounting reconciliations, cost allocation, and general ledger journal entries. This position will work with accountants, fiscal, and program staff to accomplish duties. This position works extensively in Microsoft Excel and STAR, Wisconsin's accounting system.

Salary Information The starting salary is between $20.24 and $32.00 per hour depending on qualifications. Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at the time of the appointment. Pay for current state employees who are transferring will be determined based upon the pay on transfer rules (higher level duties or equity) as outlined in the compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment.
The pay schedule/range is 07-04.
Job Details Due to the nature of the position, final candidates may be required to allow DCF to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any pending charges or convictions would be substantially related to the job being filled.

The Department of Children and Families does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have: Experience working with electronic computer systems or on-line applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Outlook, etc.). Education/coursework in Financial Accounting, Business Law, Tax, Cost Accounting, Governmental Accounting, IT systems, Excel or Access courses, Economics, Corporate Finance, Data Analytics, or Investments.
