Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time ADN Simulation Instructor at the Shell Lake Health Education Center.  Northwood Tech Instructors teach in a discipline area in which they have specific training and competence. Instructors are expected to foster learner success, assess learner achievement, and continually improve learning opportunities. The Nursing Simulation Instructor will work collaboratively with faculty and simulation staff to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate simulation-based education and events at the Health Education Center. Instructors are expected to continually improve the overall quality and delivery of learning, including the support of programs and collegewide initiatives. With program modification, this position may teach some evenings and Saturday's. The work will be conducted over three terms of the year during hours as determined by the associate dean to best meet student needs.

Collaborate with faculty and simulation staff and other clients and stakeholders to achieve consistent, integrated application of simulation-based education and events and other activities with the mission, strategic priorities and objectives of Northwood Technical College and nursing program accreditation. Work collaboratively with faculty and simulation staff to consistently implement and maintain principles of simulation, educational techniques, debriefing, and other activities as guided by the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice. Instruct faculty and others on basic knowledge of operating mannequins and their different functions that enhance the fidelity of simulation. Develop and lead faculty development activities including courses, individual instruction, print and online resources as appropriate for advanced simulation techniques. Provide documentation of completion of orientation and faculty development activities. Assist with set up of simulation scenarios and equipment. Develop technical proficiency with basic aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement needs for all simulation equipment. Collaborate with SIM technician to ensure scheduled regular maintenance and support from mannequin manufacturers with warranties for replacement and repair of simulation equipment as needed. Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain appropriate materials and protocols for scheduling, administration, and record keeping of simulation-based education, orientation, and training. Create innovative ideas, evaluate new equipment, and identify opportunities for technological improvement and integration into healthcare education. Engage in available opportunities to learn about current developments and best practices in simulation, share information and best practices externally (e.g. publications, as presenter or panelist at industry conferences and events), develop and maintain relationships with simulation specialists to engage in collaborative problem solving and innovation. Attend local, regional, and national meetings and conferences at the direction of the Dean. Conduct facility tours; participate in events providing exposure and insight into simulation education. Assist with marketing, public affairs, and communication needs of the program. Collaborate with SIM tech in preventative maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' recommendations and scheduled maintenance to ensure that equipment is operational. Develop and continually revise curriculum that includes Employability Essentials and technical content to meet industry and/or regulatory standards. Plan for instruction, including syllabi development, learning plans, and assessment strategies. Deliver, assess, and adapt effective instruction that meets the diverse needs of students. Apply a variety of instructional strategies, create learning plans, facilitate learning, and revise teaching practice. Promote a culture of continuing student success, implement strategies to promote learner persistence and meet the needs of multi-generational learners, demonstrate learner-centered communication, and utilize available student support services. Create assessment plans, employ a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies, communicate assessment results in a timely fashion to promote student learning, and use assessment results to improve instruction. Demonstrate professional behaviors to support teaching and learning and utilize varied strategies for managing the learning environment. Collaborate with course leaders and instructors for learning objectives, program outcomes and external standards, develop competencies that describe intended learning outcomes, create performance-based plans and assessment tasks for each course, develop learning objectives and plans, prepare syllabi, and utilize a quality review process to validate curriculum. Utilize a variety of data analysis tools, analyze data from teaching and learning experiences, and use data to inform decision making about the teaching and learning process. Assess effectiveness in embracing diversity, examine the impact of college, community, and student demographics on teaching and learning, and create an inclusive, effective learning environment that addresses barriers and provides reasonable accommodations. critically, demonstrate professionalism and practice inclusivity. Participate in nursing accreditation. Other duties as assigned. Degree & Experience Required:
Master's degree in Nursing or Nursing education Minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational nursing experience of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years of appointment Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to obtain driver's license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy Preferred:
1 year- experience in patient simulation services, technologies, and applications Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), expectation upon hire will be to obtain certification within 3 years Teaching experience in an associate degree nursing program
FY24 Salary - Faculty Grade D - $69,462 / year
Note: The current market estimate for this instructional area is outside Northwood Technical College's faculty salary schedule associated with this role. As such, the grade level listed above is one level higher than what is standard to reflect the market more accurately for faculty in this instructional area. Market estimates are reviewed every three years by an independent consultant to determine appropriate compensation for this instructional area, and the grade level may be altered accordingly in the future.
