The Aerial Technician is responsible for telephone, CATV, and/or electrical aerial cable installation and must be knowledgeable in splicing and understanding general electronics of CATV amps. The position will include operation of bucket trucks and/or climbing gear and requires cross training with laborer and equipment operator positions to supplement work when aerial is not available. Travel to job sites will also be required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Individual is responsible for telephone, CATV, and/or electrical aerial cable construction.
Operating a bucket truck.
Will be climbing poles.
Running cable including trunk, strand and lashing.
Must have own gear (belt, hooks, straps, and proper footwear).
REQUIRED ABILITIES
Must be able to read.
Must have a valid and insurance acceptable drivers license.
Worker must have the ability to work with and around people and alone at times.
The individual must be competent and able to comprehend the responsibilities of the position.
Individual must have competent communication skills and decision-making capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledgeable in splicing and understand general electronics of CATV amps.
Hold an insurance-acceptable drivers license.
Able to perform hard physical labor.
Hold a Class A CDL or be able to obtain one.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE
Required to work where hearing protection may be applicable.
Required to wear safety glasses when applicable.
Required to work in confined spaces.
Required to work outdoors in ALL weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, extreme heat, & cold).
Required to travel to job sites for a week or more at a time in a designated area WI, Upper MI, LA, AR).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to frequently reach, bend and climb at various heights.
Must have efficient eye-hand coordination.
Must be able to perform physical labor involving frequent lifting (over 50 lbs.), carrying, bending, and shoveling.
Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Must be cross trained as an equipment operator and a laborer to work on underground crew when aerial work is not available.
