Agriculture Economic Development Specialist - Mexico, NY This position will serve as the Agriculture Economic Development Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Oswego County. This position will implement Agriculture programming for a variety of existing Agriculture educational programs and activities that will enhance the economic viability and sustainability of agriculture and agricultural-related businesses in Oswego County. Topics include but are not limited to: agricultural marketing, business development, agri-tourism, public relations, product diversification, direct marketing strategies, promotion of local product labels, and involvement with value-added opportunities.

POSITION DETAILS: This position is a full-time non-exempt position, 35 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $23.50. This position offers a comprehensive benefit package, including health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick, and personal leave.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education (Associate's Degree and two (2) years transferrable program/function experience).Experience relevant to the role of the position.Valid NYS Driver's License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Program Responsibilities: Utilize established program resources and materials in program work to deliver educational programming.Teach Agriculture educational programming and program activities in support of other Agriculture programming efforts.Provide information to bring awareness to the public in the form of impact statements, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.Respond to inquiries in the area of agriculture and provide established research-based information.Assist the Association Team Leader and/or Association Executive Director in multi-association team efforts in the implementation of multi-disciplinary programs and program activities to deliver the Agriculture Program.Health and Safety: Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement, and standard.Equal Opportunity Employment: Cornell Cooperative Extension is an employer and educator recognized for valuing AA/EEO, Protected Veterans, and Individuals with Disabilities.
