This position focuses on the management of advanced analytical equipment and corresponding test methods.This includes development of new capabilities as well as maintenance of existing capabilities.
This person bridges the gap between the R&D and Analytical departments to provide analytical and technical service/support.They will validate new/existing test methods necessary to support development and commercialization of R&D materials and perform test method development, transfer, validation, and/or verification for methods related to analyzing raw materials and semi-finished/finished products.They will actively participate as the analytical chemistry expert on work teams and provide technical guidance and training of analytical and research technicians on all analytical functions as required.They will evaluate and make recommendations for purchase of analytical equipment as well maintain current equipment. They will manage technical activities for the Analytical department, develop experimental protocols when necessary, and transfer requirements into executable product specifications and methods. Review, revise, re-publish all active test methods in NorPro using a standard design template to ensure that methods are complete, current, and consistent. (EHS, Equipment, Procedures, Instrument settings, precision and accuracy expectations, calibration / validation requirements, etc.) Develop, validate, and implement new and/or improved analytical procedures for existing and newly developed products. (Usually driven by R&D and/or customer requests) Publish new work procedures and test methods as they are developed or improved. Work closely with manufacturing plants to provide training on new or improved test methods, driving consistency across the sites during implementation. Support the business and site quality objectives by providing timely and efficient technical analysis of analytical data for internal and external customers. Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to drive innovation and problem-solving. Keep accurate records of experiments, methodologies, and results in compliance with industry standards. Train technicians on all test methods and act as a technical resource Assist laboratory by conducting testing as needed. Support Research and Development Engineers/Scientists to analyze samples using a range of techniques such as ICP, FTIR, TPD, XRF, chromatography and other techniques. Assess and recommend new equipment capabilities for the Analytical lab. Develop methods to qualify and utilize these capabilities Pour tre sr de ne rien oublier BS in Science or Engineering + 10 years relevant lab experience (Chemistry, Material Science, Ceramic Engineering, or related) Required MS in Science or Engineering + 5 years relevant lab experience and/or PHD preferred 5+ years in a technical environment and recognized technical expertise acquired through advanced study required 2+ years Primary responsibility (operations and maintenance) of advanced analytical equipment required Thorough knowledge of conventional and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental methods of analysis, and statistics with the ability to accurately interpret data.Working and operating knowledge ICP. Must be computer proficient in MS Office applications.Understanding of safety/health practices and regulations is desired along with competence in ISO 9001. Capability to develop efficient and effective exchanges with others.Clear and effective oral and written communication Ability to interpret information for the purpose of solving complex problems Ability to manage, organize, mobilize, support, develop and lead team to it reach a specific goal.
