Expectations: Any person who strives to become an FTO must have a passion for teaching. The most obvious function of the FTO is that of a teacher. In most cases, this teaching will occur while carrying out site-related tasks at an account. Other times, teaching may occur during casual conversation. As teachers, FTOs must be willing to accept responsibility for the progress of an officer or account, or lack of it. While training, FTOs must treat officers in a professional, realistic, objective, friendly, and empathetic manner.
The Role of the Field Training Officer: Field Training Officers (FTOs) have responsibilities that can significantly impact the success of the company. In addition to performing in an exemplary manner, while officers watch, FTOs must slow their pace to review the purpose and detail of every process. FTOs must guide officers through comprehensive post orders and policies that require the blending of knowledge and skills, and the good judgment of when, where, and how to apply them.
The essentials of the FTO role is that he/she applies the techniques of coaching by providing a role model to follow and giving encouragement and direction to the officer.
FTOs must be positive role models. They must lead by example; exhibiting integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior. Maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance; adhering to the company's rules and regulations; supporting the company's vision and core values; and having a positive attitude toward the company, the job, and the officers they work with; are essential. FTOs dedicated to the success of the program will be respectful of, and respected by officers, peers, coworkers, and management.
Requirements Include: Full-Time and Full Flex availability, as shifts, schedules, and duties may change weekly, according to the company's needsKnowledge of security operationsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong customer service and service delivery orientationMust be well-groomedMust be detail-orientated and able to handle multiple tasksAbility to work at a fast pace and work efficiently under pressureMust be able to utilize personal vehicles at timesMust possess a high school diploma or equivalentMust possess a security D&G LicenseMust possess a valid Driver's License to drive company vehiclesMust have a clean driver's recordMust have 3+ years of experience of security experience, preferred Military or law enforcement background.Must have a firearm approved by Cambridge Security Services Other: Must possess all of the following Work history must include demonstrated strong customer service and work longevity.Exceptional customer service, active listening, verbal and communication skillsProficiency with cellular devices, computers, and strong typing skillsStrong time management and decision-making skillsAbility to work as a team, work in collaboration, and cooperate with a teamEffective oral and written professional communication skillsActive listening skillsAbility to assess and evaluate situations effectivelyAbility to identify critical issues quickly and accuratelyAttention to detailMust be at least 18 years old or the minimum ageMust be a United States citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United StatesMust not use illegal drugs. Must be able to pass a drug test with negative results (except when undergoing documented medical treatment)Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor VehicleMust be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military Responsibilities Include: Clock in/out with the Command CenterAdvising Command Center when arriving/leaving a siteChecking FTO bins/delivering uniform itemsSign in/out keys, radios, phones, equipment, and vehiclesConducting vehicle inspections before and after driving company vehiclesDocumenting any vehicle damage or maintenance needed via TracktikMaintaining patrol vehicles clean Filling patrol vehicles with gas and making a report via TracktikConducting uniform inspections on officers, ensuring they are wearing the proper uniform and gearCoaching officers when neededIssuing verbal warnings to officers if neededEnsuring you know all the post specifics for ALL Miami/Broward sitesEnsuring officers know their post-ordersEnsuring officers have all necessary paperwork at their specific siteEnsuring ALL equipment is operational Ensuring site vehicles are working properlyEnsuring ALL site vehicles/golf carts have gasCommunicating with officersCommunicating with the Command Center and Supervisor of any incidentsCreating Incident reports if neededBringing back any paperwork officers need to turn in to the office, including timesheetsFollowing the Itinerary provided/Turning it in every MondayCreating timesheets with all scheduled times/Turning it in every MondayUtilizing personal vehicles when scheduled to hold post, If an FTO is scheduled to hold post 35 miles or more from his location, the FTO may ask their supervisor to utilize a company vehicle. If there are no vehicles available, FTOs will utilize their own vehicles and expense the milesCovering open shifts, when the Command Center is unable to get a shift covered or there is a call-out, FTOs are to respond and hold the post until proper coverage is found, sometimes this may require FTOs to stay past their scheduled timeMust maintain their uniform cleaned, pressed, and professional, setting a good example for officers in the fieldMust only carry the gear provided by Cambridge Security FTOS needs to create a separate timesheet for each site they were holding post For additional information regarding the gear and ammunition allowed, please refer to the Standard Operating Policies and Guidelines (Memo reference, 2016-FL-001) Physical Requirements and Environment: The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessary from temperature changesThe worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outsideInclude; driving, walking, standing for long periods of time Uniforms and gear will be provided for the appropriate environment Physical efforts to carry out job duties: • Limited; to include some bending and light lifting
