Arthrex Manufacturing Inc. is actively searching for an Extrusion Engineer Technician II – Day Shift for the Pendleton, SC location. If hired for this position, you will be eligible for a $2,000.00 sign-on bonus (minus appropriate tax withholdings). You will be paid the $2,000.00 during your first pay period. Main Objective: To provide technical manufacturing support for production, new product development, and training of new personnel in extrusion processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides technical input on manufacturing techniques that could be used to produce new products Manufacture the finished product to specifications with the use of measuring equipment, specialized hand tools, making decisions in equipment setup parameters within established guidelines to achieve the required specifications Assumes responsibility for proper documentation of techniques and materials utilized to produce prototypes and development trials Adhere to EHS requirements for safe work practices including wearing PPE, maintaining orderly work environment, and awareness of process risks Work primarily unassisted or with minimal supervision and instruction, with the ability to self-identify priorities and meet project deadlines Identify in-process defects and troubleshoot related equipment to ensure quality of materials produced Read manufacturing BOMs, routers, and drawings/blueprints to establish work order requirements Develop a thorough understanding of the concepts and process inputs resulting in equipment functionality, including specialty and high-complexity processes like solution-dyed yarn, and bi-component filaments Assist with the development of standard operational procedures for extrusion processes (i.e. spinneret and screw cleaning, and single/twin screw extruder assembly and start-up) Education and Experience: HS or equivalent Post-secondary education preferred. 5 years of relevant experience required. Experience in medical device or manufacturing preferred Experience with engineering specification documents and conventions preferred Skills: Lead extrusion validation activities as assigned. Basic knowledge of extrusion processing equipment preferred. Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and inspection methods and processes. Ability to understand engineering specifications and drawing conventions required. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff. Knowledge of MS Office required. Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures. Ability to communicate ideas and issues effectively with technical and non-technical staff Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: Self-motivated and able to work independently when necessary Ability to determine materials and tools required to perform the operation Can perform different tasks/operation required to manufacture the product Creative thinker and can suggest effective process improvements Ability to use yarn testing equipment and measuring devices to assure quality of product Knowledge of administrative procedures and computer systems such as word processing, managing files and records, Excel, Power Point, Documentum, SAP, and Microsoft Outlook is preferred Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills: The technology and the frequency of the technology required to perform this job are as follows, Occasional operation of multifilament godets, water quench baths, chillers, convection ovens, single and twin-screw extruders, take-up winders, and standard yarn testing equipment
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
