JOB SUMMARYThe Director of Risk Management supports and informs the strategic goals of the enterprise by identifying, evaluating, and providing recommendations for the treatment of insurable and broader business risks, including emerging trends and concerns. This position also drives the enterprise commercial insurance and alternative risk financing programs including analytics and claims.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFrom the Tempe, Arizona corporate office, lead the enterprise's design, placement and management of property, casualty, and specialty insurance programs, including high-deductible, loss sensitive, self-insured and captive programs, from placement/renewal through expiration, tail liability treatment and claims resolution, to match and support the enterprise's risk appetite.Recruit, supervise and retain employees of the Risk Management Department housed in multiple locations and time zones and support employees' career growth and development.Lead the department's communication and connections with multi-industry business lines throughout the enterprise, headquartered in multiple regions and time zones.Represent the enterprise in developing and maintaining insurance industry relationships including those with brokers, wholesale brokers, underwriters, actuaries, consultants, adjusters, and loss engineers.Develop and interpret analyses to evaluate appropriate insurance program composition and retention and policy limits.Work with management and business lines to identify, evaluate, manage and advise on the enterprise's strategic, operational, contractual, and business risks, including those that arise from physical, legal, regulatory, political, social, economic, and technological exposures, on an ongoing and recurring basis.Periodically assess and update insurance and indemnification requirements for contracts and subcontracts throughout the enterprise's industries.Alongside management, compliance and internal audit teams, assess, evaluate and monitor the treatment of aggregated enterprise risks and assist and make recommendations on possible responses to risks (e.g., avoidance, reduction, controls, risk transfer or sharing).Manage Claims to ensure TPA and adjuster effectiveness, schedule regular evaluations of performance by line, and communicate frequency and severity concerns to finance, legal and business line management.Perform due diligence and integration planning on potential acquisitions including treatment within the enterprise's insurance program and in compliance with contractual or external requirements and conduct assessments, including evaluation of tail liabilities, of potential divestitures.Collaborate with General Counsel, outside counsel and experts, and management on severe losses, including matters with questionable or partial insurance.Manage and coordinate the department's use of technology including multiple RMIS and claims systems, databases and data rooms, and integration with evolving organizational softwareResponsible for the development of and adherence to department budget.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree required in risk management, business, management, or other related field.Minimum ten years' senior management responsibility in the insurance industry related to either providing or procuring insurance products.Strong understanding of general contract terms and conditions including indemnification provisions.CRM, ARM and/or CPCU designations preferred.Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse groups.ASRC is a drug free workplace and pre-employment drug testing is part of the hiring process.ASRC and its family of companies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
