This position will serve as a lawyer reporting to the managing corporate counsel for the state regulatory practice group. You will be working with business partners throughout the company to further key business strategies and projects that will include matters before the Oregon Public Utility Commission and other regulatory agencies. This position will serve as a legal advisor assisting the Company in complying with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. You will also advocate for company positions, potentially representing the company in contested proceedings before regulatory agencies. The successful candidate will be joining a practice group and legal department that prizes and fosters a culture of collaboration, creative problem-solving, and results.

PGE supports career progression, and this role will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's applicable skills and experience at either the Assistant General Counsel I or II levels.

Key Responsibilities Provides legal counsel on state and federal regulatory issues ensuring company's interests are effectively represented by developing and recommending company positions on legal issues to further the company's legal interests and mitigate potential legal risk. Identifies and assesses legal, business and regulatory risks and offers steps to comply and mitigate risk. Prepares and reviews written legal documents and provides legal analyses, interpretations and recommendations regarding compliance with, and risk under, policies and laws. Identifies and implements process improvements and efficiencies within the Legal department. Contributes to the overall strategy and goals of specific business partners, the practice group, and department as a whole. Represents and advocates for PGE's interests to governmental agencies, counter parties and third parties. Selects outside counsel as needed. Oversees outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal representation. Education/Experience/Certifications Requires a Juris Doctor degree.

Typically, the candidate has been practicing at least two years (in private practice, in-house, or government) in connection with electricity or natural gas state regulatory, litigation, or FERC matters. Candidates who are newer to the practice of law with the same years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Admitted to Oregon State Bar (or able to be admitted within 6 months of employment)

Working skills in understanding and supporting the technical needs of a regulated utility and advocating for the company to advance its position or interests. Working legal research and writing skills to analyze, interpret and summarize, as well as draft, complex legal documents. Working knowledge of the utility industry, market, and politics. Working knowledge of and support for PGE's policies, practices, philosophy, business model, regulatory regime, and financial reporting requirements. Ability to consistently meet attendance standards for regular, reliable, predictable, full-time attendance. Environment: Office/Hybrid/Travel within PGE Service Territory PGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite, however, these arrangements may need to change due to business needs or changes in responsibility.

Compensation Range:

$112,840.00 - $243,360.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance-based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
