Position Summary Mount Mary University seeks a dynamic individual to contribute to the realization of our Mission through the role of a tenure-track faculty position in the School of Arts and Sciences at the Assistant Professor level starting in August 2024. Faculty hire will teach courses to justice majors and minors. The faculty member will also work closely with the division chair and school dean to innovate course delivery methods and develop new programs to grow enrollment. We are a community of faculty who value relationships with our students and colleagues. The School of Arts and Sciences is interested in academically qualified candidates who will make significant contributions in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.
Primary Responsibilities Teach a full-time, 12 credit hours per semester teaching load of both day and evening classes Demonstrate effective, student-centered teaching across a range of course offerings from introductory to upper level Teach a variety of course delivery formats including in-person, hybrid, and online Mentor students as a faculty advisor Support the division chair and dean in developing and revising the curriculum Serve on Faculty Assembly and other University committees Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional development (publications in peer-reviewed academic journals, academic conference presentations) Manifest a commitment to the University's mission and participate in University events and activities Provide service to the greater community Perform other duties, as assigned Skills and Experience JD or PhD in a justice-related field is preferred; terminal degree is required A minimum of three years of teaching experience in higher education required Additional professional experience is desirable Ability to teach a range of courses in the justice major, including Intro to Justice, Intro to Justice Careers, Justice Capstone, and several other courses in the candidate's specialty Previous experience teaching a diverse student body is desired Embraces student centricity and diversity Ability to work collaboratively with others Exhibits professionalism, integrity and ethics at all times Willingness to promote the justice major to prospective students and to the greater Milwaukee community Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform primary duties satisfactorily.
