The Role in Brief: Are you a data enthusiast who seeks to tease out meaning from complex data flows and assets? Are you a talented problem solver who can transform abstract problems into elegant technical solutions? We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team of engineers and data analysts focused on designing, creating, and delivering data solutions as part of our state-of-the-art cloud-based products. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a world-class solution to help our higher education clients solve challenging problems through data.
This position will ideally be based in Richmond, VA or Washington, D.C.
Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for translating functional requirements and processes into scaled solutions through logical implementation of code (e.g., SQL, Python)Responsible for data modeling and schema design that will range across multiple business domains within higher educationPartner with multiple stakeholders including clients, new product development, and BI engineers to develop scalable standard schemasWork with clients to research and conduct business information flow studiesCodify high-performing SQL for efficient data transformationCoordinate work with external teams to ensure a smooth development processSupport operations by identifying, researching, and resolving performance and production issuesBasic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceExperience working with relational or multi-dimensional databases, including statistical and business intelligence solutions.Demonstrated mastery in database concepts through technically accurate representation of functionally meaningful dataFoundational knowledge and eagerness to expand skills in SQLProven ability to work with stakeholders to define requirements and a clear understanding of data-generative processesExcellent analytic and troubleshooting skillsStrong written and oral communication skillsIdeal Qualifications: Experience working in an AGILE environmentProven ability to synthesize complex topics into intuitive and generalizable taxonomiesExperience in SFTP automationExperience in Python scriptingFamiliar with Snowflake databaseCommitment to valuing diversity, practicing inclusive behaviors, and contributing to an equitable working and continual learning environment in support of EAB's DE&I PromiseIf you've reached this section of the job description and are unsure of whether to apply, please do! Compensation: The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $60,000 - $72,500 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. At EAB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the starting salary range for their role.
