Where you'll Work:
This internship will work within the Internal Audit Team.
The mission of this team is to help our colleagues identify and evaluate risks and internal controls so we can better deliver on our mission - together.
Internal Audit helps the Company accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.
The Audit Intern will support corporate audits and/or advisory projects.
This intern will have the unique ability to be part of various audit/advisory teams and will assist in the evaluation of processes and controls in order to mitigate risks that could impair our ability to help the people we serve.
The intern will have the unique ability to work on engagements with audit members from each of our US offices and interact with business partners, auditees from various departments, as well as provide direct assistance to our external auditors.

Cigna's 10 - 12 week summer internship program is designed to help further develop your skills and give you experience working in a dynamic environment.

"Real work": through an Intern Project in which you may be able to:
Assist in developing audit scope of review in conjunction with the Auditor-in-Charge.
Support the creation of risk-based audit programs.
Perform portions of complex financial and/or operational audits utilizing independent judgment and discretion.
Conduct audit testing of specified area and identify reportable issues Determine compliance with policies and procedures.
Community: Build relationships with our business partners, team members and other interns.
Leader Speaker Series: You and your fellow interns will be exposed to a variety of sessions and presentations given by members of the Cigna community.
What you need to do the job: Ideal candidates will be progressing toward a bachelor's degree and have completed at least 3 years in desired majors including, business, accounting, finance or other related fields.
3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in problem solving and analytical thinking.
Demonstrate effective time management skills.
Self-starter and motivated individual.
Ability to work independently, multitask and deal with changing priorities.
Timely execution of portions of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan.
Verbally communicate findings to Auditor-in-Charge and draft comprehensive and complete documentation of audited area.
Comfortable working in both an office-based and virtual team-based collaborative environment.
Additional Information: Location: Bloomfield, CT.
This role is a Hybrid position which means you will need to be in the office 50% of the time.
This is a paid internship and does not offer housing assistance.
Work Authorization: One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation.
Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week for 10-12 weeks, beginning May 19, 2025
Market Range: For this position, we anticipate offering an hourly rate of $23.50 - $24.50 an hour depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
