Job Description - BFT Aspire Group Leader (3298991) Aspire is a program of the Massachusetts General Hospital and Partners Healthcare Systems that serves more than 200 participants, teens, and young adults with social cognition challenges, including Asperger's Syndrome, High-Cognitive Autism, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Participants engage in education activities, such as theme-based curriculum, including art or recreation, and skill-building lessons to support the development of social skills, stress management strategies, and self-awareness.
Group Leaders are responsible for applying social support and behavior management techniques to help participants achieve individual and group goals. Group Leaders must have a desire to help children with neurological or developmental challenges develop their social skills, self-esteem, and self-worth and to help them succeed and have fun.
Follow Program Behavioral Management and Discipline Guidelines. Apply them in a calm, positive, controlled manner.In collaboration with parents and the individual, design clear and appropriate goals for your group members. Review your group members' goals with them daily, assess progress, and design interventions to foster further growth.Actively engage with group members during activities, transitions, and down-time. Model expected and engaged behavior when participating in Specialist-led activities.Use Aspire-supported clinical interventions to support your group members to participate in each activity to the best of their abilities. If relevant, explain and apply behavior support plans to support group progress.Help your group members develop and practice social skills, stress management strategies, and self-awareness.Communicate professionally, empathically, and honestly with the parents and caregivers of the children in your group assigned to you.Be an active participant in your supervision process; this includes setting learning goals for yourself in discussion with your supervisor.Minimum Requirements: Enrolled in, or graduate of, Bachelor or Master's degree in related field.Prior experience working with children and adolescents required.Mass General Brigham is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
