The part-time Billing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health of our organization by managing and overseeing the billing processes.
The primary objective of this position is to accurately prepare and issue invoices, statements, and financial documents to residents and clients.
This role demands a high level of attention to detail, as well as effective communication skills, as it involves regular interaction with residents, their families, and various departments within the organization.
The Billing Specialist also provides essential support to the finance and administrative teams, contributing to the overall efficiency and smooth operation of the billing functions.
Essential Job Functions Prepares monthly billing statements; gathers miscellaneous and ancillary charges from other departments and manually keys data into A/R module; reviews bills for accuracy and prepares them for mailing; maintains A/R aging report; prepares past due report; makes phone calls and/or letters as necessary; posts all cash receipts
Interacts frequently with residents and/or family members; assists in cashing checks or answering questions related to their monthly bill
Monitors resident census activity and daily keys in all changes into the system; interacts with other key departments on a routine basis to discuss resident related activity
Monitors long distance phone reports for billing purposes; updates and maintains master tables in the A/R module for annual price changes; maintains medical supply lists and imports data from software system into A/R module
Maintains and balances resident trust accounts; prepares quarterly statements and monitors cash needs; notifies resident and/or family representative when funds are depleted
Reconciles A/R account and other related balance sheet accounts
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Requirements Minimum Required Education: Minimum of a high school education or equivalent.
Requires a general understanding of accounting principles commensurate with two plus years of accounting trainingMinimum Required Experience: A least 3 years of experience in the field; preferably in non-profit, healthcare Preferred Experience: N/AMinimum Required Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills. Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals, especially the elderly. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Detail-oriented with a strong team collaboration mindset. Ability to work independently with supervision available for non-routine issues. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and intermediate-level skills in computerized accounting software.
