Job Summary Department Purpose
Student Housing and Dining Services (SHDS) is a self-supporting auxiliary that provides housing and dining services to approximately 15,000 undergraduate, graduate, and students with families who live in on-campus residential facilities (university owner/managed and Public-Private-Partnerships), as well as providing residential, retail and catering dining services for the campus community. This position works with a high degree of independence to provide customer service to career & student employees in areas of payroll, recruitment, and compliance. This position will be responsible for coordinating recruitment for Student Housing student requisitions, tracking department training to maintain compliance, and supporting payroll . This position supports staff & supervisors with personnel questions & works with campus partners to resolve any issues. Works with the Shared Service Organization, managers, supervisors, staff, & Third-Party Hotel managers & supervisors, in support of a diverse multicultural operation. Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of HR, provide daily administrative & consultative support to department related to departmental compliance, student recruitment & selection, salary actions, coordinating onboarding of new employees and off-boarding of separating employees, and payroll. Serve as a resource to the units on multi-dimensional, complex, & sensitive issues. Liaison with Shared Service Organization (SSO) to resolve key issues related to recruitment, onboarding, payroll & personnel transactions.
Provide backup support to Assistant Director & HR Specialists on various Personnel functions. Serve as backup for departmental career recruitment coordinating staff safety training & ensuring compliance with UC policies/procedures. POSITION INFORMATION Apply by Date

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Lift up to 15 lbs. of filing materials or office supplies. Work in front of a computer terminal & typing on keyboard for extended periods of time. WORK ENVIRONMENT Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational needs. Work with constant interruptions & distractions, traffic & noise from telephone, visitors, etc. Work onsite 5 days a week, with limited opportunities for remote work. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education/Experience: Experience coordinating human resources practices, policies, & procedures in a large, complex organization. Experience coordinating recruitment and staffing operations in a large complex organization. Experience with tracking and maintaining personnel information. Experience working in a fast-paced & customer-service-driven office environment. Experience using software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail & other computer programs to produce general correspondence, forms, reports, spreadsheets, presentations. Experience creating & managing policies & procedures within a collective bargaining environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Education/Experience: Experience in listening to, understanding, interpreting and translating spoken or written statements in both English and Spanish Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) : Working knowledge of campus policy/procedures and UC systems, such as BANNER, UCPath, Cognos, Handshake, AggieService or other university systems. Organizational and managerial skills to prioritize, plan and direct workload. Verbal & written communication skills to communicate with a diverse staff & student population. Customer service skills to exercise diplomacy in dealing with others & to resolve potential problems & discrepancies. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Background Check
