Heritage provides drafting services for sheet metal and pipe, including 2D and 3D drafting, building information modeling, Trimble, and 3D scanning.
Heritage sheet metal fabrication is state of the art, offering the latest technology in sheet metal fabrication, including Stainless Steel laser welding for High End Hospitals and Lab work.
Heritage provides fabrication and pipe installation services, self-performing all sheet metal and piping labor and is one of the larger employers of Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers and Local 638 Steamfitters.
Our entire project management staff is LEED accredited. Safety is paramount at Heritage, with a New York City accredited Site Safety Manager running all safety programs. Our current EMR is 0.68.
POSITION SUMMARY The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing the financial functions of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other regulatory and advisory organizations. The CFO is also accountable for the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve Company assets and report accurate financial results.
Compensation Range: $200,000 - $225,000 annual salary
Other Compensation: Discretionary Bonus in accordance with Company policy
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Practice and promote the Organization's Code of Ethics in conducting business – both internally and externally.Possess executive-level knowledge and understanding of the financial, accounting, and operational functions of the organization, supporting the CEO and executive management team in achieving the organization's vision, goals, and objectives.Serve as a strategic partner to the Company CEO, proactively advancing key initiatives effectively and within agreed timelines.Help develop and implement short and long-range business plans through budgets and forecasts.Motivate and advance the accounting and finance department to ensure alignment with the Company's operational vision and empower direct reports to perform at higher levels.Drive Company project cost control policies and procedures; make improvements and train project managers on cost control where necessary.Lead the accounting department in Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Payroll, HR; interface with Purchasing department as necessary.Develop processes/procedures necessary to ensure regulatory compliance, proper records maintenance, and adequate accounting controls in support of Company operations.Prepare for and lead monthly project reviews with CEO, executive staff, and project managers to evaluate job performance, assess risks, develop action plans, and update the book position of each project.Manage corporate cash flows and assist project management staff in managing cash at the project level.Guide and advise the accounting department in responding to internal and external audits; ensure Company compliance.Collaborate with peers and employees to leverage shared knowledge among departments and sister companies.Oversee IT function maintaining and safeguarding vital programs and infrastructure across all departments.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The CFO is responsible for managing, directing, and leading the Controller and the accounting and finance department, which includes Payroll. The CFO is also responsible for overseeing and driving Company project cost control processes and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE MBA in accounting/finance, or related academic discipline, and/or CPA accreditation is strongly preferred.Professional experience as a corporate controller or CFO with 5-10 years of experience including progressive senior management positions in accounting or finance.Bachelor's degree required in accounting/finance.Qualified candidates will possess construction industry and/or local market experience with an understanding of percentage completion accounting and over/under billings calculations.Experience in a CPA firm with construction clients or in a construction firm or related industry is preferred.Strong working knowledge of FASB, SOX, IRS, Federal, State, and City regulations as they apply to the essential functions of this position.Preferred familiarity with construction contract language and terms and construction accounting, including contracting process, project accounting, job costing, payroll, and experience in a union employee organization is preferred.COMPUTER SKILLS Advanced Computer/Technical Skills with various accounting applications (life cycle of the accounting and finance departments)REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES Ability to initiate actions and deliver on commitments in a timely, accurate manner.Ability and willingness to get into the details as needed; hands-on approach preferred.Ability to work with the highest level of integrity and ethical standards.Commitment to Company values.Strategic approach with ability to understand local markets and specific aspects of business.Executive-level written and verbal communications skills.Ability to work well and contribute as a partner in a team environment.Ability to lead people and get results through influence.Technical skills in accounting and finance within the level of experience for this position.Ability to improve processes, analyze, and solve problems on a proactive, strategic, and tactical level.Ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, government agencies, general and subcontractors, and suppliers.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
