What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
The Claims Advocate is responsible for handling the workers compensation claims process at Scout Motors Inc. They will be involved in a number of tasks, from initial intake to investigation and resolution.
Review incoming claims to determine accuracy and filing with the carrier
Communicate with the injured colleague for information and answering questions regarding the worker’s compensation process
Provide injured colleagues with status updates with respect to claims, payment schedules, and other relevant information
Ensure a high level of customer service between the injured colleague, the insurance company, the colleague’s manager, and respective People Operations contact; first in the construction phase and then in vehicle production
Review medical documentation and work with health providers if corrections are needed per defined policies and procedures
Engage various departments within an insurance company and OCIP administrator to process worker’s compensation claims
Collaborate with the Environment, Health & Safety team with respect to communication models and continuous improvement initiatives
Prepare detailed reports summarizing claims activity for review by Lead, Insurance & Risk
Coordinate with attorneys, medical professionals, and other parties involved in a resolving claims per defined policies and procedures
Maintaining claim databases, including information about claim status, payouts, and related details

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Bachelor's degree, preferably in a concentration of one or more of the following areas: business law, accounting, economics, finance and statistics
Strong communication skills and a basic understanding of legal, medical and claims terminology
High attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database / ERP systems
Internet savvy regarding online searches focused on valid / vetted sources

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $65,000-$75,000
Internal leveling code: IC11
