Shift: Three 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed; Blocked scheduling, every other weekend
Starting pay range: $57,470.00 to $86,205.00
The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by the physician, with emphasis on specialty areas (i.e., Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care), monitoring mechanical ventilation, administering medications, patient assessment, and understanding ramifications of hemodynamic monitoring, understanding blood work results, monitoring, teaching, and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures per department policy and procedures. Verify Respiratory Care physician's orders. Initial, date, and time order after verification. Receive and give accurate and complete reports. Update and complete patient information to reflect the patient's current clinical status. Be prepared and ready to receive/report at the specified report times. Attend and participate in department in-services, meetings, patient care rounds, and mandatory hospital meetings. Keep the Supervisor apprised of changes in workload and patient acuity. Enter into the department's computer all daily services and charges given to patients. Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment. Perform troubleshooting with appropriate problem resolution. Perform effective airway management to include bag/mask ventilation. Assist physician with intubation. Demonstrate safe and appropriate suction techniques and use of artificial airways. Assist in orientation/training of new employees, and respiratory/nursing students, and precept new employees during orientation. Perform arterial blood gas draws. Initiate, maintain, and monitor ventilator patients. Interpret flow volumes and pressure-volume curves to initiate appropriate clinical changes. Complete required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements. Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, asbestos, and other hazardous substances. Performs patient charge reconciliation Responsible for verifying accuracy and timely submission of time for payroll preparation. Working knowledge of all cardiopulmonary equipment within training and education for RRT. Proficiently performs all assigned modalities provided by cardiopulmonary services. Ability to translate medication into neonatal and pediatric doses uses proper equipment and procedure regarding patient size and any special needs regarding type and severity of disease. Ability to assess adult and geriatric patients for special needs using proper equipment and procedure regarding patient age and needs regarding type and severity of disease. Possess the ability to assess Adult, Pediatric, and neonatal patient's ventilator needs; can functionally provide mechanical ventilation of above patients under the direction of a qualified physician. Ability to fully assess patient respiratory status, make recommendations for appropriate therapeutic interventions, and use assessment charting techniques to document status, progress, and effect of therapeutics. Performs other duties as assigned. Completes annual education, training, in-service, and licensure/certification requirements; attends departmental and organizational staff meetings or reads meeting minutes. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated timeframes. Establishes and maintains effective verbal and written communication and good working relationships with all patients, staff, and vendors. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain a steady level of productivity; self-motivated; manages activity and time. Actively participates in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION (Nurse Practioner Position) Experience: RRT with at least one year of experience, through knowledge and training in the areas of General Respiratory Care as well as Mechanical Ventilation. Pulmonary diagnostics preferred Cardiac Diagnostics (EKG, Holter monitor, Event Monitor Cardiac Stress Testing) preferred Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Must be a graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential according to guidelines set forth by the NBRC. Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registration: Must have current BLS certification or obtain it within 90 days of hire. Must have current NRP certifications or obtain them within 6 months of hire. Active Colorado Physical Therapy License, or compact license. EMR System: EPIC knowledge/experience is preferred
