Coach - Head Cross Country @ Endeavor Middle SchoolTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The pay for this position is a minimum of $1. Additional pay is dependent on funds raised by Community Athletics & Activities, payable June 30, 2025.
HEAD TRACK AND FIELD COACH The Moses Lake School District is seeking candidates to fill the position of head track and field coach for the track and field team. Moses Lake Middle School participates in the NCW Middle School League. The district is committed to the development of useful, life-long skills in its student athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out the duties of the track and field program as established by the Middle School Principal, Athletic Director and policies of the Moses Lake School District.Demonstrated technical track and field skills and successful experience in teaching these skills to secondary school student athletes.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, community and staff.Organizational skills needed to ensure a well-managed program.Valid first Aid Card/CPR certification required.Must meet the age requirements of WIAA applicable to this position.Must have excellent attendance.Must be a high school graduate.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS High school coaches are required to complete 30 clock hours of coaching standard courses by the completion of the second year of coaching.Middle Level coaches are required to complete a coaching effectiveness training class equivalent to the NFICEP coaching effectiveness class before the beginning of the third year.Continuous training standard requires that during any three-year period of coaching a minimum of 15 clock hours shall be completed by all high school coaches.Work within the basic framework and philosophy of the Moses Lake School District Athletics Department.Demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, techniques, strategies, playing rules and procedures.Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.Implement a safety plan that includes teaching of the proper techniques and fundamentals.Adhere to all safety rules.Have an emergency medical plan in place.Inform parents of individual players regarding attendance, discipline, and injury.Relate to staff members in a professional and effective manner.Demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship with athletes, peers, and the public (particularly at sporting events).Motivate players.Keep players informed of available camps, weight programs, etc.Teach and discipline in a consistent and equitable manner.Understand and adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.Implement team rules in accordance with the policies and regulations listed above.Direct student managers and statisticians on respective teams.Schedule and provide transportation to sport events.Adhere to scheduled facility times.Instruct team members as to changes in the rules and teach fundamentals of the sport.Attend all staff meetings and make scouting assignments to assistant coach(es).Secure all doors, lights, windows and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.Arrive early enough before practice, contests, and meetings to adequately prepare, and remain long enough afterwards to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions.Plan and implement both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs.Never criticize, admonish, or argue with coach staff or any staff member within hearing or sight of players or parents.Strive to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources available.Examine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sports equipment.Complete mandatory SafeSchools training annually.Other duties as assigned.The Moses Lake School District #161 does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, honorably discharged veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boys Scouts and other designated youth groups.
