Computer-Mediated Communication Assistant ProfessorCentral Michigan University, School of Communication, Journalism, and MediaThe School of Communication, Journalism, and Media seeks an assistant professor with expertise in mediated and/or technological communication. The teaching load is 3:3. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality, theory-driven scholarship that explores the complex interactions of mediated communication, (new) technologies, artificial intelligence, new media studies, digital activism, informational literacy, or other related fields.
Required QualificationsPh.D. in Communication (must be completed no later than August, 2025).Previous college teaching experience in communication courses.Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to computer-mediated communication, including topics such as computer-mediated communication, communication and popular culture, virtual communication, interpersonal relationships in a digital age, misinformation and deception online, persuasion and CMC, entertainment and CMC, digital activism, or similar topics.Active research agenda related to computer-mediated communication.Ability to engage in service to the Area, School, University, and Discipline.Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.Preferred QualificationsResearch related to computer-mediated communication.Experience mentoring or teaching graduate students.You must submit an online application in order to be considered as an applicant for this position.
