The Construction Manager will be responsible for all activities associated with Columbia and Virginia Submarine Construction. The role consists of, but is not limited to, driving installation schedules, cost and progress, work order attainment, inspection processes, design deliverables, material availability and interface with our Customers. The ability to manage the performance of the group's Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement is paramount to the success of the Focus Factory. In order to accomplish this function, the Construction Manager controls the work through Area Superintendents under their area of responsibility and will also interface with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Planning, and the Program Office to resolve all items affecting Ship's Construction. Candidate is also responsible for developing good work practices, developing and maintaining EB culture, assisting with process improvements, and ensuring assigned supplier personnel conform to all regulatory/EB requirements. Furthermore, the Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring the embedded supplier personnel are being trained appropriately to assume typical positions that an Electric Boat employee would fulfill, such as but not limited to, Operations Supervisors, Logistic Analyst, and Area Superintendents. Required: High school diploma or GED Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Substitute Supervisor, Operations Supervisor and/or Area Superintendent with an additional minimum 5 years of experience as a welder/fitter OR 5 years of supervisory/management experience. Must be available to work all shifts including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance through the Department of Defense Demonstrated leadership skills Experience with Ships Drawings, SSPs, SPs, Technical Manuals, Welding Technique Sheets, EWP, ERS, ERs, NDT, MDDs, SDDs, DIs and SIs. Experienced in Computer Skills, MS Office/Word, Power Point and Project Must be available to travel, as required Preferred: Prior area superintendent experience at QP or Focus Factory location Bachelor's Degree Understanding of EB ship construction, processes, procedures and key functional area responsibilities including engineering, planning, purchasing, manufacturing, steel fabrication, installation, inspection and test Skills: Must possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills Candidate must be an effective writer/reviewer of technical correspondence Attention to detail is a must Multi-tasking/work prioritization Demonstrated leadership skills Team builder Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting
