Position Summary : Accountable for the accurate and timely preparation, analysis, control and distribution of casino financial information, statements, records and reports as directed; insuring for the overall care, control and management of casino assets, revenue, funds, in accordance with standard operating procedures, tribal and state gaming regulations, federal and state regulations, tribal/state compact and governing regulations, casino minimum internal controls (MICS); departmental policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Recruitment and Selection Criteria: High School diploma or GED; At least 21 years of age (required). BA/BS 4-year degree (required) in accounting, finance, or related field from an accredited institution. MBA or related advanced degree a plus. Preference given for CPA or those eligible to "sit" for CPA exam.  Five (5) plus years of recent financial/accounting experience including significant revenue audit and cage cash management responsibilities, and GL in a systems-based environment. Indian Gaming experience strongly preferred, at least 1 year of casino/gaming experience required.  Fundamental knowledge of GAAP accounting principles; Anti-Money Laundering / Title 31 requirements, and knowledge of accounting and financial principles and practices and reporting. Strong computer skills and proficiency in relevant accounting software - Dynamics GP a plus ; MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PP). Knowledge/Experience with AR, AP, FA/PA a plus. Knowledge/Experience of state/federal statutes regarding accounting and financial requirements. Key Accountabilities: Oversee and provide operational leadership to Revenue Audit and Cage/Vault Departments and associated functional and staff development activities. Responsible for knowing critical functions within the departments, including improving functional efficiencies as needed through the development, implementation, and auditing of accounting procedures that properly validate, summarize and classify all operating revenue transactions. Review and ensure the accuracy of Table Games, Slots, Hotel, Restaurant and other revenue generating venues performance and compliance with internal controls; perform audits to ensure revenue is properly and accurately accounted for and reported in a timely manner to management as required. Ensure department adherence to all aspects of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program and its regulations including Title 31 Cash Transactions, Suspicious Activity Reporting, and Customer Identification Requirements. Assist Title 31 Compliance Officer with reporting requirements. Work with other financial departments units as assigned. Maintain complete General Ledger accounting system to record all revenues and expenses of the casino operation. Prepare GL entries and review all transactions for appropriate classification and matching principle. Maintain supporting records and files. Reconcile, adjust and maintain all balance sheet GL accounts such as prepaid expenses, accounts receivables, accrued expenses, accounts payable, etc.  Compile, enter and post recurring and monthly adjusting journal entries. Prepare payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, requesting disbursements and reconciling accounts.  Oversee fixed asset management; maintain and reconcile monthly additions/deletions to fixed assets. Maintain fixed assets ledger and prepare journal entries. Manage/prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports, including bank reconciliation and journal entries as required. Review financial reports to ensure accuracy, reasonableness and completeness, and release reports or direct revisions of reports as required. Review and interpret unusual transactions or unexpected financial results to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.  Assist in the preparation, review and analyze profit and loss accounts; income statement variances, cash flow, depreciation, balance sheets, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, inventory accountability, payroll and regulatory reports and filings, and various daily and month-end processes and special projects. Participate in the monthly and year-end close process by preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare month-end bookings with supporting schedules for all balance sheet accounts. Review/prepare monthly, quarterly and annual payroll and sales tax filings and monthly and quarterly Net-Win reports for the state. ·Assist with the coordination and implementation of the annual budget process and interim forecasting. Work with CFO and management in the preparation and submission of departmental annual budgets.  Oversee monthly retail inventory administration and tracking calculations and assist departments with implementing more efficient counting measures.  Serve as payroll processing backup resource. Oversee daily audit of revenues in a timely manner. Oversee daily cash summary report preparations. Assist in the preparation of audit schedules; assist with gaming and jackpot check audits to ensure compliance with MICS. review and as needed, investigate, document and resolve audit findings and/or other departmental inefficiencies Conduct analysis for maximizing revenue; report regularly on the cash status of the casino and conduct cost of goods sold analysis; track performance of various departments within the casino, hotel and other venues; Monitor performance of casino revenue departments and report revenue performance.  Assist the CFO in the planning, development and implementation of procedures to improve department operations and accountability. Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all assigned areas with an emphasis on any aspect of the operation which will contribute to the profitability and maximize guest satisfaction. Develop and introduce accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes. Develop new reporting and analytical tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring performance of assigned groups. Actively assist in the introduction of new accounting management systems and internal controls, including the development of data and report information to insure a smooth and timely implementation. Provide guidance to other staff in detecting and resolving reoccurring problem areas within the overall accounting system. Recommend and initiate corrective actions where appropriate.  Act as a liaison to all other departments with respect to financial questions and matters. Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting information, policy and procedures. Ensure maximum security is maintained in all areas of control. Assist departmental management on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization. Serve as a positive team leader to foster teamwork, team morale and open communications. Encourage and motivate team members to exceed expectations; actively promote by example a team atmosphere of cooperation, dignity, mutual respect; and provide guidance and resources to accomplish these objectives. Help maintain a culture that attracts, retains and motivates professional and accountable personnel. Facilitate to resolve personnel conflicts and help build team relationships. About Ute Mountain Casino Hotel: Ute Mountain Casino Hotel (UMCH) is a tribal casino located in Towaoc, Colorado, just a 20 minute drive from Mesa Verde National Park. The property currently has 650 slots, 7 tables, 90 hotel rooms, 80 R.V. spaces, 2 travel centers, and a team-member population of 397.
