Our client, a leader in the call center and business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, is seeking a Corporate Counsel specializing in US employment law and HR matters. This role is critical in providing expert legal advice and support across the organization's employment and HR functions. The Corporate Counsel will ensure compliance with US employment regulations, manage employment-related claims, and collaborate on employee-related projects globally, contributing to the company's mission to deliver superior service while fostering a people-first workplace culture.
About the Role: As the Corporate Counsel specializing in US employment law and HR matters. This role is pivotal in supporting the organization's compliance with labor laws, managing employment-related claims, and advising on HR practices to mitigate risk and enhance operational effectiveness. The Corporate Counsel will play a key role in drafting policies, conducting training, overseeing employment-related litigation, and collaborating on global employee-related initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide legal expertise in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment while helping shape and sustain a people-focused workplace culture.
\n Employee-Related Documentation Prepare, review, and revise employee-related documents, including: Offer letters Employment agreements Work-from-home documents (e.g., equipment return policies) Background check documents (consent and disclosure forms) Employee applications Policy Compliance and Development Review and draft policies to ensure regulatory compliance with US laws, including FMLA, ADA, OSHA, and ERISA. Examples of policies include: US Employee Handbook Social media policies Anti-corruption policies (FCPA) Wage and hour (FLSA) policies Global HR Coordination Coordinate and assist with nearshore and offshore employee-related documents: Collaborate with local in-house or external counsel. Review and align global policies as needed. Training and ComplianceTraining and Compliance Develop and deliver training modules on employment-related topics, such as: Fraud prevention, employee relations, and harassment. Workplace safety training. Perform legal/compliance training as applicable. Employment Claims, Litigation, and Matters Manage US employment-related claims and litigation, including: EEOC charges, DOL wage claims, and similar matters. Overseeing outside counsel and handling litigation discovery processes. Providing guidance and engaging in strategy discussions with external counsel. Track and coordinate global claims with offshore and nearshore legal teams. Monitor and assist with the resolution of "speak-up" complaints. Employment Law Advisor Provide accurate and timely guidance on employment-related matters to manage risk, including: Leaves of absence/accommodations. Employee separations and investigations. OSHA investigations. Hiring, discipline, terminations, and performance management. Wage and hour compliance (e.g., time-keeping audits). Compensation and benefits. Review and advise on: Bonus plans, compensation guidelines, and separation agreements. Summary plan descriptions. Monitor changes in federal, state, and local labor laws. Conduct US-based employee investigations in collaboration with other departments. Coordinate and manage employment-related projects, such as internal process reviews, new policy rollouts, and training programs. Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Assist with HR due diligence during M&A activities. Support employee and HR integration efforts post-acquisition.
