. Benefits to You
We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
The hourly equivalent for this position is $23.98 - $37.20.
10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 3 personal business days, separate sick and vacation paid leaves (prorated for part-time employees), and other employee benefits such as optional insurances and flexible spending plans.
OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job.
In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD the first step of the salary range. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.
Position Highlights
The Seventh Judicial District is hiring a Court Clerk (Court Operations Associate) to join its team at the Gilliam
and Wheeler
circuit court locations. Much of your day is spent performing court case workflow tasks and providing customer service. Workflow includes examining paperwork for accuracy, receiving pleadings and documents from parties and attorneys, entering case data in OJD's electronic case management system, and sharing case-related information such as status of cases and court calendar with judges and coworkers. You will also assist the public at the service counter and on the phone by answering questions, supplying forms, and receiving payments via cash, credit/debit cards, and checks/money orders for balances owed to the court, then crediting those accounts.
You will also work in the courtroom, using recording equipment to log all events in real-time, swearing-in of witnesses, marking and maintaining exhibits and exhibit logs, entering data onto each case register while court is in session, and keeping trial records. Attending to juries as bailiff or assisting with jury support duties in and out of the courtroom as needed will be part of your duties.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
AND
At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
OR
Any combination of education and experience
equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Ability to work with minimal on-site supervision.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.
Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
The primary office for this position will be at the Gilliam County Courthouse; however, travel to the Wheeler County Courthouse will be required on days there are courtroom matters and for office coverage. There is also infrequent travel to other counties in the 7th Judicial District. Travel is done on work time and mileage is reimbursed.
The position works in an office of one. While there is in-person contact with the public, county staff, and court staff, the majority of time this position works in a solo environment with support and team connections navigated by remote means (telephone, email, chat, video, etc.).
Working in an older building with inconsistent heating and cooling.
Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstance, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
Lifting up to 25 pounds of office material or equipment may be required.
Regular use of the following equipment: electronic recording equipment, telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
