Financial Assistant
Location: Bridgeport, CT
Reports to: Chief Financial and Administrative Officer
Our client is a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization focused on addressing housing challenges through collaboration and strategic regional initiatives. With a commitment to promoting equitable housing solutions and ending homelessness, our organization partners across various sectors to drive systemic changes in housing access and affordability.
The Financial and Administrative Associate will support the Finance and Administration department by providing essential accounting and administrative assistance. This role also supports the administrative needs of the Senior Leadership team and assists with office management.
Responsibilities: Financial: Collaborate on accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable; code and create invoices. Assist in financial operations such as budgeting, variance analysis, and reporting. Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state financial regulations, and funder requirements. Support the development and implementation of finance policies and procedures. Maintain allocation tables, reporting deadlines, and cash flow analysis. Provide scheduling and support for the senior leadership team, including meeting coordination. Maintain office supplies, order as needed, and oversee general office upkeep. Assist with off-site meeting scheduling, coordination, and logistics. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in an accounting or business office, ideally within the nonprofit sector. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial principles. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in financial software; experience with Sage Intacct is a plus. Work Environment: Engaging and collaborative work setting with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Full-time position, 30-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Work location: On-site in Bridgeport, CT, with limited travel for off-site meetings (~5%).
