The Data Engineer (Vehicle) is responsible for supporting an autonomous driving project. The vehicle will be capturing data on controlled access roads in varying conditions. The vehicles will be instrumented with the appropriate sensors to provide our customer with daily vehicle data. After each day of driving the vehicle hard drives will be removed, replaced, and the data transferred to the appropriate servers to ensure data integrity. This role will be a main point of contact to the LINK project manager. This Data Engineer is technically responsible for organizing, executing and coordinating the data transfer process – this includes hardware tracking, logistics and communication amongst the team.
\n Main ResponsibilitiesBasic equipment (instrumentation) understandingData system support and light vehicle troubleshootingNightly data transfer activities (remove HDD's, label HDD's, track HDD's, begin data transfer, repeat process for 5 to 10 vehicles in total)Create, document and communicate a data copy process back to program managerDaily communication, and weekly meetings with the program manager on data/HDD status Job QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or related degree and 3 years of relevant work or a related Associates degree with 6 years relevant work experience in an automotive engineering testing environment or proven equivalent related work experienceDemonstrated experience being highly motivated and self-directedProven experience leading projectsProficient with Microsoft Office and Windows based computer systemsWriting technical reports, SOPs, ISO quality documentsExperience with standardized Quality Systems (ISO-9001 / 17025, MIL I/Q)Able to work evenings/weekends and/or travel (as required) CompetenciesTest Engineering (equipment, reporting, analysis, etc.)Ability to set priorities and meet deadlinesSound understanding with project management fundamentals, e.g., work plans, schedules, resource plans, and status reportsAbility to work well in a team environmentStrong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal servicesHands-on problem solving and continuous improvement leadership
\nThis position is located in a laboratory environment and will involve hands-on work with tools and testing equipment. Physical activity will include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
