JOB SUMMARY: Provides system development and maintenance in Degree Works, a tool in the student system iROAR. Programs curriculum requirements for degrees using highly technical and system-specific computer language. Other duties as assigned.JOB DUTIES: 50% - Essential - System Development and Compliance: Programs curriculum requirements that have been approved through the faculty for all undergraduate degrees within assigned colleges using highly technical, system-specific computer language. Reviews, interprets, and programs academic policies into the system. Assesses curriculum additions and changes prior to university approval to ensure Clemson's continued compliance with the federal financial aid regulation, Course Program of Study. This is a critical job function as errors in programming can cause under or over payment of federal financial aid for all students receiving aid within the degree program. Attends all Undergraduate Curriculum Committee meetings. 25% - Essential - System Maintenance : Performs regular maintenance by updating system tables, adjusting coding/programming as needed to accommodate academic department needs. Applies blanket substitutions/overrides to the system to ensure degree requirements are accurate for students. Works with system and database managers to test all upgrades and changes to the Degree Works system. Assists in developing functional specifications for improvements and changes to the system. Serves as point of contact for fielding Course Plan of Study questions as they pertain to Degree Works. Approves system substitutions and restrictions within Curriculum approval system then distributes to teammates, as needed. 25% - Essential - System Troubleshooting: As policies and objectives change, works with the appropriate team to determine a solution. This may be working within the Degree Works team including the Associate Registrar but also may include other administrators, advisors, instructors, curriculum chairs, etc. Troubleshoots system issues, determines solution, then communicates that to appropriate persons. Initial point of contact for questions/issues/errors within Degree Works. Distributes to teammates, as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School or Equivalent
Experience - 1+ years of experience in computer systems development and modification
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Experience - 2+ years experience in higher education
RESPONSIBILITIES JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 70% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period

COMPENSATION INFORMATION Anticipated Hiring Range ($45,530.00 - $54,256.00)


Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines .
