Job Title: Design and Release Engineer – Driver Assistance Systems
Location: Dearborn, MI
What you'll be doing:
We are seeking a qualified engineer responsible for the Design and Release and Program Application work for Driver Assistance Electronics systems (Driver State Monitoring System, Park Aid Systems – Front, Rear, Semi-Automatic Parking, and Camera Systems – Rear View Camera, 360, Trailering Systems).
The candidate would lead application engineering of some or all of these Driver Assist features on several vehicle programs.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the Electrical Driver Assistance D&R and Application work on various Programs
System definition and program set-up (including Bill of Material, Work planning, etc)
Preparation of initial and final sourcing documents; managing cost and weight of all system components
Lead Program Management with Full-Service Supplier Partners
Co-Lead the packaging of the Park Aid/Camera system on multiple Programs
Ensure Programs' deliverables are met on time and with the highest quality.
This includes the following: AVBOM, Integrator, Packaging/Digital Buck, DPA Checks, WERS, eFDVS, Subsystem/Supplier work plans, DVP&R, Engineering Sign-off, etc
Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality History, P – Diagram, FMEA, etc)
Develop work plans and lead resolution of DAT implementation and validation related issues
Support prototype and vehicle launches.
Identify validation, durability and functional test required
Executing subsystem and vehicle development, tuning, and testing, and managing supplier design validation and verification tasks
Troubleshooting and developing solutions for issues found during validation and launch
What you need for this position:
Required:
BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or strongly related
3+ year of CAD packaging experience
3+ year of experience with Automotive Component or Subsystem Product Development tools and processes.
Strong understanding and application of engineering disciplines (engineering specifications, design validation, failure mode analysis, 8D, six sigma, etc.)
Experience working in the driver assistance or active safety areas
Excellent project management skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with multiple functions including design studio, body engineering, and program management
Excellent supplier management skills and experience in leading large supplier teams
Experience with packaging electronic modules and components in vehicles
Preferred:
MSEE or advanced degree preferred
Highly motivated, extremely proactive, substantial attention to detail
Excellent teamworking skills
Ability to quickly learn the job (with mentoring from others), and then be able to self-lead the D&R Application work for Active Safety Radar/Camera systems on Programs
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to interface with many activities and champion issue resolution to get the job done
CAD packaging experience and/or experience in CATIA and Team Center
Experience in ultrasonic, radar, IR or camera-based systems desired
