JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for oversight and strategic development, integration, and delivery of clinical education for Piedmont Healthcare. Oversees the design and development of nursing clinical education programs. Partners with key stakeholders and collaborates with other system and operations leaders to drive continuous improvement and meet established goals and objectives. Evaluates the effectiveness of current programs and develops future initiatives to advance quality, patient safety, and service goals as well as comply with regulatory agencies. Supervises clinical specialists and facility educators.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directs the development and advancement of clinical education programs across the organization.
Assures programs are planned to meet DNV, hospital, and divisional standards focusing on competency in role performance of all nursing personnel.Responsible for effectiveness of clinical educators, preceptors, clinical nurse specialists, and others in staff and patient education.Develops, implements, and evaluates clinical professional development programs for staff and management.Establishes and enforces policies and procedures regarding all clinical/educational experiences.Assures all DNV standards are met regarding clinical experiences.Promotes good public relations and an environment that supports recruitment.Develops, implements, and evaluates programs that assure staff competency, satisfaction, and professional growth.Develops and maintains relationships with operations leaders so that all clinical educational activities are planned jointly, are fully aligned with business needs, and are as cost-effective for operations as possible. This includes setting competency goals and aggressively seeking, evaluating, and implementing alternatives to traditional training activities.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the nursing division education program.
Assures that all accrediting organization standards are met regarding patient education.Works directly and indirectly with nursing staff members to aid in coaching and mentoring with regards to patient education.Assures that education materials are professionally prepared and systems are in place to promote their use.Through partnership with the entity CNOs and matrix dotted line reporting to the system CNO aligns clinical nursing education with HR, PHC, and nursing goals to meet strategic and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for managing human, fiscal, and other resources.
Establishes, monitors, and manages a realistic and achievable operating and capital budget for the department in accordance with established hospital procedures. Provides benchmarking data or other sufficient justification during budget process.Assures effective and efficient use of all available resources.Uses available information management systems and has input into new information systems that directly affect clinical education.Develops and conducts a return-on-investment (ROI) analysis prior to initiating work on clinical training or educational programs for those that meet the guidelines.Creates and delivers appropriate internal controls, audits, monitoring to ensure that results are sustained over time.Ensures clinical educational programs and materials are appropriate for learners and are in compliance with PHC marketing and communication requirements.Completes other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of Piedmont Healthcare.Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of hospital clinical education experience with demonstrated leadership ability required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree preferred.
Project management experience.
Evidence of leadership, critical problem-solving skills, teaching, prioritization, presentation, and decision-making skills.
Experience in clinical education delivery and program planning.
