How will you make an impact in this role?
American Express Enterprise Cloud provides a comprehensive platform that enables business critical applications to have Faster Time-to-Market for American Express. The platform offers fast-paced rapid code-to-development models and services such as Platform-as-a-Service, DB-as-a-Service, Analytics-as-a-Service, CICD tools, etc. for application developers in a multi cloud environment. Amex Cloud Platform enables application developers to write modern scalable cloud native applications.
The Enterprise Cloud team is looking for a dynamic leader to lead our Financial Management team. We are looking for an analytical individual with the ability to drive strategy who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position works with the Enterprise Cloud Leadership Team to ensure maximum insight into the financial plan, both in terms of value management and investment optimization. This role will be responsible for managing all financial functions in support of Amex's multi-cloud strategy.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent thought leadership, strategic and critical thinking, financial and budgeting experience, ability to communicate to senior leadership, relationship building skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Responsibilities
Lead the Enterprise Cloud portfolio management team and manage the financial portfolio end-to-end, including providing consulting services to VPs and Directors on financials.
Ensure timely and accurate financial deliverables to achieve the Enterprise Cloud portfolio financial targets.
Deliver executive presentations summarizing monthly financial results including R&O, P&L, investment, and headcount elements.
Manage colleague and contractor headcount inclusive of linkages to key initiative funding and forward-looking views incorporating strategic workforce plan elements used in BoY projections.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build long range plans and annual budgets while ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
Provide guidance across the organization on purchasing and accounting treatment for various expense types.
Build and enhance ad-hoc financial models and business cases that support the complex operating environment while taking into consideration the needs of a wide group of partners and stakeholders including finance, product teams, application teams, and engineering teams.
Partner with the FinOps team to ensure public cloud expenses are optimized, identify areas of additional opportunity, and support a wholistic cost management approach.
Oversee monthly and annual chargeback-related processes for PaaS, xPaas, and CI/CD offerings.
Work with corporate controllership on monthly journal entry inquiries
Provide financial analysis and support for Cloud related vendor agreements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or another related field
5+ years of experience managing a large portfolio, preferably within the technology organization.
Extensive experience with P&L management, journal entries (accruals, reclasses, amortization), expense forecasting, financial reporting, resource management, and TCAI processes.
Advanced or expert PowerPoint and visual presentation skills.
Experience with JIRA, Rally, and Clarity knowledge.
Highly proficient in financial modeling/analysis; should be able to connect strategy to financial results.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Ability to persuade and influence through established credibility.
Ability to apply situational leadership and encourage and motivate team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep experience and proven thought leadership in a financial role and a strong foundation of knowledge in Finance.
Experience in Technology financial management.
Adept at driving outcomes with relentless attention to detail.
Ability to continuously deliver results in a dynamic environment while comfortably navigating ambiguity.
Lead and influence others without authority at multiple levels across technology, product, and business functions.
Adept at building relationships with strong consultative and collaborative skills to partner with leaders across business and technology.
Superb verbal and written communication skills, from preparation through execution, with the ability to understand your audience and build presentations to structure messages that effectively inform and persuade.
Working knowledge of technology investment planning, resource management and cost modeling is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of private and public cloud environments; particularly AWS, GCP, and Azure
Salary Range: $145,000.00 to $230,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
