Job Summary
The Levin College of Public Affairs and Education seeks a dynamic and visionary Director of the Maxine Goodman Levin School of Urban Affairs to work with and lead the school beginning no later than July 1, 2025. The nationally ranked Levin School (#4 urban policy, #12 local government) is one of four academic units in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University. The Levin School encompasses six bachelor and four master's degrees, a Ph.D. in Urban Studies and Public Affairs, and a variety of certificate and dual degree offerings. The school consists of 16 full-time faculty, approximately 250 undergraduates and 125 graduate (master's and Ph.D.) students. It is home to two fully accredited programs – the Master of Public Administration and Master of Urban Planning and Development – a school advisory committee, and partners with college research and career enhancement centers. The Levin School has recently created a robust recruitment plan to strengthen the pipeline of public service-oriented students and maintains endowed funds to support its activities, innovation, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
The director of the Levin School will report to the dean of the college and oversee academic programs, faculty, and staff. The responsibilities include:

Working with program directors to lead the academic programs with an eye towards innovation;Cultivating partnerships to create a strong student experience to meet the needs of the workforce;Supporting and advancing the faculty in the areas of teaching, research, and outreach;Representing the school both internally and externally with a goal of advancing knowledge creation and impact locally, regionally, and nationally;Working across the college on academic and student engaged projects including recruitment and retention efforts;Collaborating with the college, university, and greater Northeast Ohio community for the advancement and success of the Levin School.Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Urban Studies, or a closely related field;
• A record suitable for tenure and rank at associate professor (advanced level) or full professor within the Levin School;
• Strong record of:

Academic leadership and administrative experience;Teaching, student mentoring, and curriculum development;Research;
• Excellent communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:
• Ability to be hired at rank of full Professor;
• Familiarity with the accreditation requirements of the Master of Public Administration (NASPAA) and/or Master of Urban Planning and Development (PAB) degrees;
• Prior work experience outside of higher education in the public, private, philanthropic, or non-profit sectors;
• Demonstrated experience within a diverse urban university setting;
• Experience with developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with community partners;
• Familiarity with management of funds to support student and faculty success.
