Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Director of Mechanical Engineering with extensive knowledge and experience in blast physics methodology and its application to closed structures. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive experience in leading engineering projects focused on blast-resistant design, structural integrity, and safety in high-risk environments. You will manage and direct a team of engineers, leading the design, analysis, and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for projects involving blast loads in enclosed environments.
This position will play a critical role in ensuring that engineering solutions meet stringent safety and performance standards while advancing innovation in blast mitigation technologies. This position is 3 days in Bethesda, MD and 2 days in White Marsh, MD. Responsibilities: Lead and manage engineering teams in the design, analysis, and testing of structures to withstand blast loads and other extreme forces.Utilize blast physics methodology to perform detailed engineering analyses on structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards and client requirements.Oversee the development and implementation of blast-resistant designs for closed structures such as buildings, tunnels, and military facilities.Provide technical leadership in the areas of blast dynamics, structural response analysis, and mitigation techniques.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, construction managers, and safety officers, to integrate blast protection measures into broader project plans.Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of blast events on structural integrity.Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices related to blast engineering and structural design.Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering reports, drawings, and documentation to support project execution.Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery of engineering solutions.Serve as a subject matter expert in client meetings, presentations, and technical discussions, offering expert guidance on blast-resistant design.Ensure all projects adhere to relevant industry codes and regulations (e.g., UFC 3-340-02, ASTM standards, ISO blast protection standards).Foster a collaborative and innovative engineering environment that promotes continuous improvement and professional development.Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 a year
