DIRECTOR OF NURSING Job Title: Director of Nursing

Job Status: Full Time

Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary:

As the Director of Nursing (DON), reporting directly to the Executive Director, you ensure the provision of quality nursing care in accordance with State and Local regulations while leading the nursing team to provide a top-notch experience to all residents.
This role acts as the Director in the community in the absence of the Executive Director.


Essential Duties:

Oversee the delivery of care to residents to ensure that emotional, physical, psychological and safety needs are met Oversee and be responsible for the delivery of quality care and services to our residents in compliance with the regulations Administer medications and/or treatments for all residents, adhering to facility policies and procedures Manage the caregiver staff Hire and train employees Ensure all Nursing Staff strictly adheres to all medical and communication logs, policies and procedures Perform management and administrative duties in the absence of the Executive Director Act as first responder to resident emergency response system Oversee and implement infection control, pharmaceutical, all policies and procedures, and assures that committee recommendations are carried out Function as a liaison between the residents, their families, staff and the public Assess potential residents for assisted living, independent living, and memory care regarding the care level and the appropriate placement Develop and implement nursing service objectives Maintain a safe work environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices Maintain annual budget with conjunction of the Executive Director Maintain current knowledge of scope of practice for self and staff members, and recognize legal implications when making nursing judgments/decisions Perform other duties as assigned Requirements

Qualifications: Requires three (3) years of nursing experience in a senior care community with proven leadership and organizational skills, licensed Practical nurse or Registered Nurse required Demonstrated compliance with State and Local regulations as well as professional standards and practices Possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Assisted Living, Memory Care and Independent Living (where applicable), as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living Great communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the heart and passion to work with older adults, and providing the best care possible Proven experience in staffing, leading, developing and retaining a strong Resident Care Team Demonstrates excellent observation, assessment and nursing judgment Exhibit and promote a high level of customer service, hospitality, curiosity and friendliness towards all residents, visitors, associates and the overall community Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, to be flexible, to work well with many interruptions and have skill in multi-tasking Must have respect for the principles of resident rights and confidentiality Proficiency in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word applications.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Accredited RN degree, preferred Accredited LPN degree, required Applicable State licensure, required Physical Demands:

In the course of performing job duties, the employee will routinely engage in activities such as sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle and feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.
Additionally, there may be occasional requirements for crouching and lifting items weighing up to 50lbs.
The employee's specific vision abilities should encompass the capacity to see both near and far distances.
