Position Overview
The Operations Manager (OM) serves as the accounting and IT lead at GEO and supports finance and facilities administration. They are the point of contact internally and liaise with external accounting services provider and staff to ensure that accounting processes are complete, accurate, and timely, and distributes financial reports to different teams. The OM is responsible for fielding internal questions about coding and chart of accounts. The OM also coordinates all IT requests and works with our external IT partners to manage our day-to-day equipment and software and drafts the annual IT planning process and plans. This position is DC-Based and requires in-person attendance to fulfill job duties. This position reports to the Director of Operations and requires around 5% travel.
When working in this role you will: Work with the Director of Operations to support audit fieldwork and requests.Log all revenue received in the last week and coordinate with the membership & development teams to collect the documentation to substantiate correct coding and support revenue recognition.Reconcile all programmatic registration revenue with bank batch settlements for the month-end close.Provide all the client schedules required for month-end close to our external accountant.Coordinate with the outsourced IT vendor to deploy an organization-wide software.Field a member inquiry on using GEO conference room space for their team retreat.Collate a list of shared expenses for the annual operating budget and midyear forecasting process.Provide an onsite orientation to a new staff member on how to navigate the office building.Support the Zoom tech logistics for a virtual Equitable Operations Peer Community call.Participate in a conversation with other managers about how GEO's culture can best support organizational goals.Minimum Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in nonprofit accounting and operations or a combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties for this position. 8 years of direct and relevant experience preferred.Proven ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple types of administrative tasks; strong attention to detail and accuracy; persistent follow-through skills.Experience with month-end closeout and other accounting processes, preferably in a nonprofit setting.Experience troubleshooting IT problems and spotting trends, working with external vendors to resolve issues and project managing IT projects.Proven project management experience, including attention to detail, ability to support multiple projects simultaneously on deadline, and navigate alignment to broader organization priorities and strategy.Strong written and interpersonal communication skills with a commitment to relationship building.Ability to build and strengthen relationships across teams and with a broad group of stakeholders.High degree of personal integrity, ethics, and demonstrated respect and sensitivity for cultural differences and willingness to live into GEO's values and ways of being.Passion for GEO's mission and vision to improve philanthropic culture.Compensation and Benefits
GEO offers a competitive salary ($78k-$97k). The starting salary is based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. To counter pay inequity and uphold internal parity, we use a nonnegotiable starting salary system, while benchmarking our pay to competitive markets.
