This role is pivotal in driving key initiatives forward and shaping a sustainable future. Position: Director of Project Development Location: Washington DC (hybrid working available) Travel: Up to 20% The Director of Project Development, based in Washington, DC, will provide strategic guidance at both project and portfolio levels, ensuring successful development of solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets. This role is essential in securing all necessary approvals to bring projects to a construction-ready stage. As Director, You Will: Lead & Drive – Own the entitlement, interconnection, and permitting processes, ensuring projects move forward on time and on budget. Collaborate & Solve – Work across teams to enhance project design and tackle regulatory or environmental challenges. Strategize & Guide – Communicate clear risk assessments to leadership and suggest strategies to keep projects on track. Build & Manage – Oversee a team of developers, providing the expertise they need to succeed. Engage & Connect – Forge strong relationships with local communities, permitting authorities, and utilities to smooth the path for successful project execution. Oversee & Execute – Manage third-party consultants to bring in technical, environmental, and interconnection expertise as needed. What We're Looking For: A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in business, engineering, planning, or a related field. 5-7 years of experience in renewable project development, ideally in solar. Strong project management skills with a knack for handling multiple projects on tight deadlines. A background in GIS and real estate evaluation, ensuring project sites are optimized and compliant. Proven ability to build partnerships with local authorities, communities, and industry players. Willingness to travel up to 20%.
