LoBio, a healthtech startup founded by two Cornell PhDs, is seeking a highly motivated and engaged engineer to help reimagine the future of blood testing. We have developed a patented blood/plasma separation technology that replaces the centrifuge. Our first device allows anyone to collect high quality plasma from the comfort of their home within minutes. We are financially backed by both industry and operating experts and are members/graduates of several prestigious accelerator programs including Techstars Healthcare '24, Creative Destruction Lab – Health & Wellness '24, and Mount Sinai Elementa Labs '24.
The Director of R&D will lead all commercialization of products and contribute significantly towards LoBio's product roadmap. This is a great opportunity to be fully immersed in a fast paced, innovative startup. This candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and play a much larger role over time.
Responsibilities:We are looking for bright technical candidates who can advance development of our core technology and expand it for other key applications including (but not limited to):
Advancing the technology readiness of existing prototypes.Formulating and testing new variations of the product.Conducting verification and validation studies with human blood samples.Coordinating studies with key partners and collaborators.Writing grants to funding organizations for innovative spin-off concepts.Developing manufacturing and distribution frameworks.Requirements:Entrepreneurial, self-starter, ability to learn independently, and motivated to learn new concepts.PhD in related fields (e.g. biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, biochemistry) or MS with equivalent industry experience.Experience with standard wet lab techniques (ELISA, Flow Cytometry, etc.).Demonstrated history of scientific writing (lead author on peer-reviewed publications, grant writing).Demonstrated ability for project planning, documentation, and progress communication.Compensation: $95,000 - $120,000 (based on experience) + Stock Options.
