Posting Identification Number  38055 Position Overview The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detail-oriented person to serve as Corrections Industry Supervisor in Hillsboro at Graham Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will serve as a working supervisor over agency employees and assist in instructing individuals in custody in industrial woodworking operations. In addition, the successful candidate will inspect and review products for quality assurance, will ensure the shop maintains production schedules, and will act as staff assistant to the Superintendent of the manufacturing shop. Job Responsibilities Serves as working supervisor. Coordinates the production of all orders. Instructs and trains individual in custody workers in the proper use of tools and equipment and materials utilized in the operations. Maintains individual in custody worker Earned Discretionary Sentence Credit master list for area. Assists and monitors year ending inventories. Report infractions of rules in accordance with Administrative Directives. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school or completion of an approved training course. Requires two (2) years of supervisory experience in a field related to the position to be filled. Preferred Qualifications Prefers at least three (3) years of supervisory experience. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing field. Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in organizational logistics. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with purchase contracts and/or service level agreements with vendors. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in inventory management. Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in supervising production. Conditions of Employment This position is considered medium work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(c)). Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Requires completion of an approved course in guard training within six (6) months of employment. Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check. Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
