Job Description This role is co-responsible for the successful delivery of Dry Docks of the assigned vessels and other service and maintenance projects assigned to them. They will monitor the project budget, schedule, logistics, and will ensure compliance with codes and regulations. This role will also be responsible for inspection of ship on dry dock to ensure successful completion of work on the dry dock and works closely with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of projects on the dry dock.
Essential Functions: Manages dry-dock master schedule (3-5 dry-docks per year) of the assigned vessels. Gather data and analyze the information to ensure there are no conflicts in planning and scheduling of dry dock activities. Partner with all departments that participate in such projects to ensure necessary information is collected and submitted. Utilize the information collected to create and maintain dry dock schedule, maintain budget and analyze progress reported against the work schedules. Monitor costs to assure budget is maintained. Review dry dock project plans to ensure it is within approved budget.Resolve complex issues including scheduling conflicts and delays. Assess risk and understand if there are roadblocks that may jeopardize dry dock delivery; recommend improvements and modifications as appropriate. Make decisions to ensure delays are minimal. Coordinate and direct work of vendors to ensure timely completion of agreed upon work and delivery of quality product.Conducts dry-dock planning meetings. Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, project managers, and contractors to assure no aspect of the dry dock project is overlooked. Facilitate effective communication between these individuals and produce achievement reports, presentations and reviews throughout the project to management and key stakeholders. Follow up on pending actions as needed.Follows up with yard and vendor to update dry-dock master schedule. Responsible for the tasks related to dry-dock up but not limited to heat maps update, logistics management, loading plan, floor protection plan, container loading plans, inspections report. Tracks project progress against milestones, budget and other guidelines.Advise and participate in contract negotiations. Maintain close contact with contractors and vendors to resolve any possible challenges in a proactive manner. Ensure that scheduled work is being completed in timely and orderly fashion. Perform onsite inspections at dry docks to ensure quality adherence/assurance of work completed and timely production. Ensure projects are accomplished following applicable policies, procedures, practices and regulatory codes.Serves as Project Manager of medium to large technical and refit projects.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Marine/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent degree/experienceAt least three to five years in ship building, shipyard, dry dock repair and/or project management.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Fully conversant in usual IT software (office, project, dry dock specific software). Able to find solutions and initiatives to solve technical issues at the safest, economical and fastest way, according to Flag, Class, ISM, ISPS, etc., rules. Able to coordinate a complex dry dock / repair process in cooperation with the vessels' superintendents / shipyard / sub-contractors / crew / company.Experience as project manager in medium to large technical and refit projects executed in dry-dock. Ship repairs processes and class / flag requirements. Knowledge of dry docks and ship maintenance (steel, paint, electrical, hydraulic, etc.). Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and coordinate activities in a team environment.In addition to other duties/functions, this position requires full commitment and support for promoting ethical and compliant culture. More specifically, this position requires integrity, honesty, and respectful treatment of others, as well as a willingness to speak up when they see misconduct or have concerns.Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: 25-50% ship-based travel
Work Conditions: Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
This position is classified as 'in-office.' As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday. Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
