Overview: Akicita Federal, a Tribally Owned 8(a) company, is seeking a skilled Electrician to support the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The role involves working on tribal construction projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality in electrical installations, maintenance, and repair. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that support tribal communities.
Key Responsibilities: -Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, lighting fixtures, and electrical panels for construction projects.
-Interpret and follow blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical codes to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
-Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustments.
-Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
-Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and tribal representatives to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
-Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
-Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations, the National Electric Code (NEC), and any tribal-specific guidelines.
-Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or an apprenticeship in electrical work is preferred.
Certification: Valid electrician's license for the state of New Mexico.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional electrical experience, with prior experience on construction projects preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams; experience with tools and equipment commonly used in the trade.
Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor construction sites; lift heavy equipment and materials; and stand for extended periods.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: -Experience working with tribal construction projects or in Native American communities.
-Familiarity with federal construction regulations and tribal-specific codes.
-Knowledge of energy-efficient electrical solutions and renewable energy systems.
