Your Job
The Engineering and Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and guiding the business goals, plans, and processes for the engineering and maintenance departments. Within a mill of approximately 415 employees, the Engineering/Maintenance Manager is responsible for 7 salaried reports, and approximately 16 maintenance employees, where they will apply their knowledge to develop and carry out objectives, solve problems, and be able to respond to short-term as well as long term mill goals. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the maintenance department to ensure that the mill maintenance is meeting the objectives in safety, quality, cost and customer service. The candidate will lead and support preventative maintenance programs, and provide technical support for troubleshooting, to minimize downtime and maximize process efficiencies.
Safety Leadership -Accountable for the safety performance of the maintenance area while promoting personal accountability for working safely and addressing safety concerns in all areas of the mill. Capital Projects - provide coaching and mentoring to project engineers on planning, commissioning, execution and close-out best practices. Asset Maintenance - Develop and implement maintenance and improvement strategies while managing within the allotted goals and budgets. Help employees understand who their customers are and how their work directly impacts spending and mill profits/loses. Business Leadership - Ensure use of the Reliability Mental Model Demonstrate results by working effectively with other mill leaders and resources to improve year over year results. Meets regularly with direct reports, and other maintenance team members to increase knowledge and improve skills. This includes oversite of intern and early engineering career development programs. Business Culture - Embrace the direction of the of the company's way of doing business and help continue to change the culture through tools, and processes available. (Principle Based Management) The ideal candidate will: Have a strong desire to learn, grow, and make a difference; possess basic financial and statistical skills; will ensure environmental compliance; and have the ability to perform root cause analyses to find source of problems. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering 3 or more years of maintenance or engineering experience within an industrial management, manufacturing, or production environment 3 or more years of supervisory experience with responsibility for leading and developing direct reports Experience using the following Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Project What Will Put You Ahead Previous experience working within a pulp & paper operation
