Heavy Civil Estimator
GPAC is currently looking for a full-time Estimator to help assist site development and utility construction projects. This position is a long-term opportunity and the purpose of the Estimator is to work with the project teams and scope and prepare portions of estimates including the determination of applicable project plans and specifications.
Scopes of work will include but are not limited to; excavation, underground wet utilities or water mains, grading, asphalt paving, & concrete - roadway construction.
Responsibilities:
* Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
* Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs
* Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work
* Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
* Support other department personnel as required; may include assisting with estimates in other disciplines
* May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials
* Interface with clients on bid-walks
* May provide support to field operations regarding estimates
* Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
Requirements:
* 2+ years' experience with a Civil Roadway or Site Development Construction Contractor
* 2+ years of construction estimating specific to the above scope of work
* Working knowledge of Civil Construction procedures and processes
* Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems
* Ability to perform detailed work and successfully meet deadlines
* Ability to navigate computers, technology and estimating software.
