Job Summary The field attendant is responsible for preparing and maintaining fields for league softball games. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and the Sports Coordinator. The City of Dearborn Heights is a public corporation. The employees of the City are required to serve citizens and customers in a tactful, courteous manner; establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, directors, elected officials, and general public.
Nature Of Work Duties Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of softball fields prior to and after games
Rakes and lines the softball field, applies field dry down on the field and inventories supplies and equipment
Observes and reports hazardous conditions in the field and fencing to the Program Supervisor or Sports Coordinator and performs other related tasks as assigned by them
Environmental Conditions and Equipment Used Exposed to outside weather conditions with no effective protection from weather
Exposed to poisonous chemicals and plants
Noise/vibration exposure that could cause possible hearing loss or provide strain/harm on the body
Uses tools and equipment that are relative to the position, including broom, rake, field liner, cleaning supplies, etc.
Minimum Training, License, Education and Experience Must be at least 18 years of age and have earned a High School diploma or equivalent
Must have own transportation and have at least 30 days of experience
Must be able to operate locks and keys, able to work without supervision and have an ability to follow written and/or verbal directions
Specifications (Skills, Mental and Physical) Must have the ability to apply principles of rational systems to solve problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
Must be able to read at a level to understand procedures and methods related to the job, as well as communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Must have math ability that includes basic math
Must be able to complete medium work that includes exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to complete work duties that include reaching, handling, fingering, feeling and repetitive motion
Must have hearing to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and receive detailed information through oral communication and/or make fine distinctions in sound
Must have visual acuity for determining accuracy, thoroughness of work and observation of general surroundings and activities
Must be able to adapt to changing situations, work well with others and participate in a team-oriented environment
Must be able to be customer oriented and maintain excellent customer service
