About Us: The Alliance for Retired Americans is a nationwide grassroots advocacy organization with more than 4.4 million members working together to improve the lives of all older Americans. The Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans has over 100,000 members statewide. We seek to hire an experienced consultant/contractor to help drive our electoral organizing efforts and build capacity within the WI Alliance.
Position Overview: As an Independent Contractor Field Organizer , you'll play a crucial role in turning out the retiree vote in key districts and advocating for candidates who champion retirement security. While this position is remote, candidates must be based in the Milwaukee area to facilitate local engagement and organizing. Your responsibilities will include identifying and engaging Alliance members, activists, and volunteers, and supporting electoral campaign efforts throughout the state.
Responsibilities: Under the guidance of Wisconsin and national Alliance leadership, conduct field campaigning, including member organizing and coalition building. Plan, coordinate, and support rallies, press conferences, and other actions to amplify our message and mobilize retiree voters. Collaborate with Alliance-affiliated unions and partner organizations Lead and participate in campaign-related activities for Alliance-endorsed federal, state, and local candidates Qualifications: Experience in union, political, or issue organizing, ideally 1-3 years or more Strong commitment to progressive political and social agendas. Demonstrated success in community engagement, event planning, and coalition building. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to travel extensively within the state, with all travel expenses covered. Must have a car, drivers license, and insurance. Ability to work independently and with irregular hours, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays. Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with email marketing platforms like Action Network, basic website updates (training provided), and proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other common software.
