Are you a motivated and detail-oriented individual looking to dive into the world of nonprofit finance? Sharing Excess is looking for a part-time Finance Associate to work alongside our Finance Director and gain hands-on experience in financial management. This position is perfect for graduate students or early-career professionals eager to learn about accounting and financial reporting in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization. You'll assist with essential accounting functions, support financial reporting, and help ensure smooth financial operations, all while contributing to an impactful cause. Key Responsibilities: Assist with day-to-day financial operations, including data entry, reconciliations, and expense tracking. Support month-end and year-end closing processes. Help prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets for internal and external stakeholders. Work with the Finance Director to ensure compliance with grant requirements, tracking fund allocation and reporting. Contribute to the preparation of tax filings and audits, as needed. Maintain organized financial records and documentation. Process accounts payable, including paying bills and processing checks in a timely manner. Support the executive team with financial tasks, such as preparing reports, presentations, and data analysis for strategic decision-making. Assist with developing and improving financial procedures and policies. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required. Qualifications: Holds an MBA or currently enrolled in an MBA program, with a focus on finance, accounting, or a related field. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
