PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate and expedite throughput activity on behalf of patients who seek care in the Emergency Department.Have final accountability and authority regarding patient flow and reacts to the immediate operational needs of the department.Supervises and directs other members of the Emergency Department interdisciplinary team to assist in the coordination and advancement of care throughout the patient experience.Collaborate with other departments such as housekeeping, escort and admitting to coordinate resources to facilitate and maximize throughput.Evaluate capacity of services and is accountable for facilitating the appropriate response to volume demands.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduated from an approved school of nursing, BSN required. MSN preferred. CEN preferred.Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts.Extensive knowledge of patient flow and emergency department operations.Continually update clinical knowledge & skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.Proven ability to work well independently, possess sound decision-making skills and work effectively when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.Brigham and Women's Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
