Job Title: Front Office Assistant Job Specialty: Radiation Oncology Support Job Duration: 3 months Shift: Full Time - Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm with flexibility to 6 pm as needed Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum one year of medical front office or equivalent administrative experience required License: Not Applicable Certifications: Preferred - BLS Must-Have: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)- Clerical skills including filing, calculator, and telephone skills- Typing skills of at least 35 WPM- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy Job Description: - Perform a variety of clerical duties and front office operations to support patient care activities- Ensure even patient flow and maintain continuous communication within the department and with referring physicians and organization staff- Interact courteously with patients, their family members or surrogate decision-makers, and the public- Greet visitors and answer telephones- Collect copays, close the cash drawer, and prepare month-end deposits- Collect initial demographic and clinical patient information and accurately enter it into the medical record- Compile and prepare charts- Assist with coordination and execution of patient scheduling, including confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling- Communicate schedule changes promptly to all appropriate locations and individuals, including clinical staff and supervisors- Maintain accurate information and utilize various software, including department-specific programs, to schedule, enter charges, find and scan documents, and accurately enter patient information- Ensure the patient chart has all the required paperwork before the patient's procedure- Order patient tests as directed by medical staff as needed during patient stay- Potential to work in various departments as needed- Assist clinical staff as needed with patients and family members- Always maintain patient confidentiality- Participate in the continuous quality improvement process- Perform other duties as assigned Preferred Skills: - Two years of medical front office experience - Experience within an acute healthcare system environment - Knowledge of healthcare database systems - Understanding of insurance procedures
