About the Role The Company is seeking a General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to safeguard its legal interests and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
The successful candidate will be the chief legal officer for the organization, responsible for developing and deploying legal strategies, managing legal risks, and overseeing the legal services staff.
This role also includes serving as the primary legal advisor to the Board of Directors, managing executive committee and board operations, and overseeing corporate governance, including board and board committee processes.
The General Counsel and Corporate Secretary will be a key member of the senior management team, maintaining overall organizational compliance and serving as the Chief Compliance Officer.
Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, be admitted to the bar, and have at least 12 years of experience as an attorney, with a minimum of 8 years in advocacy or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of the chemical or a related industry is essential.
The ideal candidate will have experience in federal government (EPA) or related work, a strong understanding of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) laws, and experience in board governance and trade associations.
Responsibilities also include overseeing the selection, retention, and management of outside counsel, as well as the performance and development of the legal services department.
The role requires up to 20% travel and is pivotal in ensuring the company's legal and ethical integrity.
