As the Head of Advanced Manufacturing Concepts, you will be responsible for devising and investigating potential new approaches to manufacturing on future Lucid vehicles and platforms. Through this work you will play a key role in shaping the direction of travel for Lucid in vehicle and production design. Your ideas will improve manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and production quality, as well as have a positive impact on vehicle attributes.

This position requires a creative and analytical mind with history and knowledge of cutting-edge manufacturing concepts, along with a deep understanding of current manufacturing paradigms. Although this role has no direct reports, you will lead the organization through your ideas and create strong networks of key individuals to see your ideas implemented. The role will report to the VP of Manufacturing.You will work closely with the SVP of Engineering and SVP of Design & Brand in the Design Studio. The location is Newark, California.


The Role:
Innovation: Create an innovation pipeline for new production approaches at Lucid. Contribute personally by devising fresh and innovative technology concepts. Work with the Design Studio to create a compelling vision. Create close bonds with senior leadership to sell these ideas.Benchmarking: Assess competitor approaches to production for viability and benefit at Lucid. Keep abreast and educate Lucid about cutting-edge technologies as proposed by suppliers and partners to industry, such as additive manufacturing. This is not limited to the automotive industry.Scenario Planning: Create production scenarios for Lucid, by grouping ideas and demonstrating their worth, by using data for total cost, quality, performance, footprint and throughput. Usethese scenarios to propose a new direction to senior leadership.Technology Roadmaps: Create a manufacturing technology roadmap and populate with ideas. Work with senior leadership, advanced engineering, and the program management office to table and approve the introduction of these ideas.Integration:Work with Advanced Engineering and the vehicle Chief Engineers to define the effect of new manufacturing concepts on vehicle designs. Accompany advanced engineeringdesigns to ensure that the new concepts are accurately implemented. Work with subject matter experts across Lucid to confirm feasibility.Industrialization: Collaborate with peers in the Manufacturing and Facilities organizations to trial and implement these fresh ideas on existing and new production lines.Lessons learned: Work with engineering and manufacturing teams from across the business to understand the root cause of current production limitations, and issue recommendations on how to solve these problems by addressing fundamental design principles in future products.Guidelines:Create a manual of engineering fundamentals for advanced engineering design, in so far as it supports more efficient and advanced manufacturing concepts in future. This is not the same as DFM or DFA which describe specific solutions, but rather a manual of how certain fundamental engineering principles could unlock future production possibilities.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.10+ years' experience in the automotive industry.Deep knowledge of advanced materials and manufacturing techniques.Patents and awards in disruptive production technology.Knowledge of electric vehicles and their unique requirements.Evidence of genuinely innovative ideas being brought to market.Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a results-oriented mindset.Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors. Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
