Aerovel, a trailblazer in the unmanned aircraft industry, is seeking a Head of Manufacturing to lead all aspects of manufacturing operations to include manufacturing, modification, and repair of UAS aircraft. Responsible for rapidly scaling production activities by implementing and/or maturing current manufacturing processes to meet long term company objectives and customer demand.
Meet the Team: The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea.

Your Challenges: Oversee daily production operations ensuring efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
Manage production schedules, resource allocation, and workflows to meet production targets.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Lead and mentor a large and growing production team; fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Develop and document processes necessary to create product maturity.
Coordinate with Programs, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Business Development, and Sales to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met.
Monitor efficiency, productivity, quality, and on time deliveries to assure departmental commitments meet company objectives.
Manage follow-up with subordinates on the progress of UAS through the manufacturing and delivery cycle; including manpower, materials, tools, instructions, and other functions.
Motivate stakeholders, inside and outside of this position's control, to give their best every day and work together on resolving possible issues that might affect production.
Maintain close cooperation with the Quality department and take quality findings into consideration – constant feedback loop – to avoid reoccurrences.
Establish and monitor CAPEX and OPEX budgets for areas under this position's control.
Create, manage and execute the Master Production Schedule, for Flexrotor program.
Foster contacts within Airbus Helicopters' global organization to identify trends, and share knowledge to improve overall efficiencies.
Utilize and monitor UAS metrics to make operational decisions in order to achieve company goals.
Your Boarding Pass: Bachelors of Science degree or additional equivalent experience.
10 years' experience in aviation, with a minimum of five (5) years in a production environment.
Physical Requirements:
Onsite: 90% - Daily except when on travel.
Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily.
Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms daily.
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily.
Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment daily.
Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily.
Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture occasionally.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer daily.
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving occasionally.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices daily.
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely.
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity. Summary pay range: $155,000 - $175,000 per year.
